Transparency assessment and risk analysis in the soybean supply chain

Transitions is supporting a supplier of ingredients for the cosmetics and food industries in strengthening its responsible soya sourcing strategy, with the aim of improving supply chains transparency, assessing risks associated with purchasing volumes, and supporting efforts to ensure that its supply is free from deforestation and the conversion of natural ecosystems.

An in-depth survey of soya suppliers was conducted to collect the data needed to map the supply chain, with the findings presented in a transparency report. This mapping enabled a risk analysis across the various sourcing areas and provided a basis for calculating the proportion of purchased volumes that could be classified as DCF (Deforestation and Conversion Free) to be calculated.

A supplier assessment questionnaire was also rolled out, resulting in concrete recommendations that laid the foundations for stronger supplier engagement.
